In Mark 1:16-45, we see Jesus ministering in and around Capernaum, his home base for much of his ministry. Jesus calls the first disciples, casts out an unclean spirit in the synagogue, heals Peter's mother-in-law, continues preaching the message of the kingdom, and heals a leper. We see that Jesus' word has authority, that discipleship requires humility, and that those who have been restored are now called to serve.
