In Mark 1:2-15, Mark's prologue gives us the beginnings of Jesus' ministry. We see his forerunner John the Baptist, his commission at the Jordan River, his preparation in the wilderness, and his proclamation in Galilee. These verses help us prepare to understand the rest of the gospel of Mark, but they also call us to examine our own choices - have we repented and sided with Jesus? Is our gospel big enough to match the total demands of Christ?
